Leetonia’s Brandon Dattilio does not shy away from his opponents.

“I love just getting the chance to compete against other kids from the area,” he said. “I don’t like losing. Nobody does. It always pushes me to want to do better and want to win.”

Dattilio spends his whole year helping Leetonia try to win. He plays football, basketball, and baseball.

He is a three-year letter winner in football starring as a running back, defensive back, and kicker, earning honorable mention All-Ohio.

Brandon is also a two-year letter winner with the basketball team, starting at point guard his senior year.

He has likewise earned four letters in baseball, holding three different school records.

While victories may be the bench mark for some, it’s Dattilio’s growth since his freshman year that has given him an edge.

“As a freshman, you’re just kind of out there,” said Dattilio. “They’re trying to get you ready because they know your time is coming. As a senior, you’re expected to do your best, perform well and be a leader for the younger kids.”

He leads in the classroom, too. Dattilio has a 4.0 grade point average and is class valedictorian.

“Working hard in the classroom is important because some kids are lucky enough to move on to the next level. Even those ones that do, don’t go further than that. You’re going to need a good education to go far in life.”

Outside the classroom, Brandon is a member of National Honor Society, SAAD, and he has also worked to help the American Red Cross Blood Drive.

Dattilio will attend Ohio State and pursue a degree in engineering.
